About Me

“We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality.” Iris Murdoch (British Novelist and Philosopher, 1919-1999)

I loved that quote during highschool and it is still influential to me now; some 20 years later. I find now that I know too much of reality and am always trying to escape to a fantasy world.

During the day I assist with the running of our business and do everything my husband doesn’t want to do like accounting, human resources, social media, process and documentation standardisation and compliance! At night I love to escape into the world of television and whatever series we are into at the time (or watching some Sci-Fi by myself to get my fix!) and of course do some blogging. And being a book-worm I finish off the evening with a few pages of a book – anything from Stephen King, to Paullina Simons, to an old fave like Enid Blyton. During the weekend I try to have at least one sleep in, and then try to cram in some cake decorating, visiting friends and family, going for walks, eating out, taking photos and even some scrapbooking or card making. My husband and I also love to travel and escape the work environment!

I’ve been married for almost 7 years (together 17!) and we have a two adorable puppies (okay they are 2 now, but they are our babies): Hamlet who is a Cairn Terrier (like Toto from The Wizard of Oz) and Macbeth who is an Australian Silky Terrier.

So after being a workaholic accountant for 15 years I started this blog in August 2012. Through my blog I am exploring my creative side through cake decorating, releasing my inner geek and writing! I hope you enjoy my blog! (Please check out www.facebook.com/michelleslabyrinth for a collection of photos and links to all sorts fantasy, cake decorating and pictures of my puppies!)

  1. Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance
from an established blog. Is it hard to set up your own blog?
I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick.

I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do
you have any points or suggestions? Thank you
